The Royal Oak Potton

The Royal Oak is the oldest pub in the historic market town of Potton in Bedfordshire, situated in a Grade 2 listed building. Here you’ll find real ales, fine wines and fresh and delicious food, all in a traditional, family-run, English pub like atmosphere. The oak beamed bar with a real fire in the colder months provides a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, whilst for those warmer summer days the beer garden offers a pleasant alternative. In the evenings the solid oak dining tables subtly lit create a warm and intimate ambience

A Warm Welcome.

Trevor and Helen and the team are proud to welcome you to the Royal Oak. Our committed staff take pleasure in ensuring that your time with us is enjoyable, whether it be for that special meal or just a quick drink.

“Fantastic Menu worthy of a Top London Restaurant”

My husband and I ate here mid-week and couldn’t resist having three courses from the wonderful new menu put together by the experienced new head chef who has just started there. The food was absolutely delicious and a great price for what it is. I think it was actually the best food I have tasted at any pub within the area and is actually up there with the posh London restaurants I have been to (and I’ve been to quite a few).

The pub itself is reputed to be the oldest in Potton and it has a welcoming lovely ‘olde world’ charm. It was quiet for a Thursday evening so not many staff on but the girl who served us was extremely polite and friendly. I am sure this pub will be discovered soon. Will definitely be going back.

“Fantastic food and new chef”

Went here with my wife for an evening meal as we had the opportunity to have an evening without the kids. The Royal oak has recentley gained a new chef and we wanted to sample the new menu. We both had starters and main courses and I also had a dessert. From the start you could tell from the menu that a lot of thought had gone into it. There was a great selection to choose from and I opted for pheasant to start with my wife choosing the baked brie. I went for the burger with maple glazed bacon and montery jack cheese for main and my wife had bbq pulled chicken in a brioche bun. All the food was extremely well presented and tasted delicious. The food was good enough that it could have been served in a high end restaurant…the service was great and the staff friendly and personable. We will definitley be returning as the whole experience was fantastic.
